Words of Encouragement

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” Ps 136:1.

The Psalmist calls us to give thanks to the Lord (Ps 92:1, 100:4, 105:1, 107, 118, 136, 122:4, 140:13). When we give thanks, we acknowledge God’s goodness and unlock His supernatural power in our lives. The apostle Paul also encouraged us in 1 Thess  5:16-18 to give thanks in all things because it is God’s will that we do so. You probably wonder what there is to be thankful for, especially in these unprecedented times of Covid-19, but let me encourage you to find something to be thankful for, even the smallest thing.

You woke up this morning, give thanks you are alive, many did not make it. You have clean water to drink on tap, be thankful, millions don’t have this privilege. You have a job to go to, be thankful, someone hasn’t. Despite the circumstances, you are able to join other like minded believers for a virtual service, give thanks! In some parts of the world, people have to hide to do this. Your manager is a bit difficult to get along with, be thankful for the opportunity to effect a change in them by praying. You may even be unwell, as difficult as that may be, may I encourage you to give God thanks? The Psalmist in Ps 103, encourages us to bless the Lord at all times, because He forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases. So give Him thanks.

You see, as you give thanks, you take the focus off yourself, and shift it to God, He becomes bigger than you and your circumstance, you begin to see His might, therefore opening the door for Him to move in your life.

    In today’s video we:

Explore Matthew 6: 13 even further.

We join a mean boy called Dennis and a little girl called Princess.

Princess is happily walking to school when Dennis decided that he is going to pick on her. He tells her to move out of his way, and when she refuses, he pokes her in the ribs. That was mean. His behaviour helps us to understand that the word evil means to be unkind, to be mean, to be nasty.

But hooray! just as Dennis tried to poke Princess in the rib a second time along came deliverer to help her. The deliverer is someone who helps to get us to a place of safety and keeps us out of the way of evil.

Jesus is our Deliverer. By going to the cross, He made sure that evil cannot do us any harm. He made sure that the evil kingdom has no power over us – that’s why His is the kingdom with power and which has glory (beauty) for ever and ever… and that’s why we all say AMEN!

This week draw a fantastic picture of Jesus our Deliverer – you might want Him to be wearing a fantastic cape and show Him using His super powers to deliver us from evil.
