Words of Encouragement

“Oh give thanks to the Lord, for He is good! For His mercy endures forever.” Ps 136:1.

The Psalmist calls us to give thanks to the Lord (Ps 92:1, 100:4, 105:1, 107, 118, 136, 122:4, 140:13). When we give thanks, we acknowledge God’s goodness and unlock His supernatural power in our lives. The apostle Paul also encouraged us in 1 Thess  5:16-18 to give thanks in all things because it is God’s will that we do so. You probably wonder what there is to be thankful for, especially in these unprecedented times of Covid-19, but let me encourage you to find something to be thankful for, even the smallest thing.

You woke up this morning, give thanks you are alive, many did not make it. You have clean water to drink on tap, be thankful, millions don’t have this privilege. You have a job to go to, be thankful, someone hasn’t. Despite the circumstances, you are able to join other like minded believers for a virtual service, give thanks! In some parts of the world, people have to hide to do this. Your manager is a bit difficult to get along with, be thankful for the opportunity to effect a change in them by praying. You may even be unwell, as difficult as that may be, may I encourage you to give God thanks? The Psalmist in Ps 103, encourages us to bless the Lord at all times, because He forgives all our sins and heals all our diseases. So give Him thanks.

You see, as you give thanks, you take the focus off yourself, and shift it to God, He becomes bigger than you and your circumstance, you begin to see His might, therefore opening the door for Him to move in your life.

Story: Daniel in the lion's den

We can talk to God anytime (prayer). God is not concerned with the words we use but what is in our hearts.

The Lord’s prayer gives us instructions on how and who to pray to.

Where Matthew 6:11 says “give us this day our daily bread”  this refers to accepting that our Father in heaven will take care of all our needs.

    Memory verse:

Please read Matthew 6:6-13 [NKJV] as your memory verse for this week.
