Principles of Discipleship - Part 2

To be committed to the person of Christ mandates an obedient walk with Him and it is a Master - Servant relationship. Jesus says "15 If you [really] love Me, you will keep (obey) My commands."

Partial obedience is no obedience, therefore total obedience is a measure of our commitment to Christ's lordship over our lives. He is the BOSS and His words must be followed if we are to maintain our loyalty to Him and keep the evil one out of our lives. 24 Then Jesus said to His disciples, If anyone desires to be My disciple, let him deny himself [disregard, lose sight of, and forget himself and his own interests] and take up his cross and follow Me [cleave steadfastly to Me, conform wholly to My example in living and, if need be, in dying, also].

Commitment to the lordship of Jesus demands complete self-surrender. In simple terms, it means that we give up our rights to all that is our own, and thereafter become a steward, rather than a proprietor. Complete surrender means a readiness and willingness to abandon all personal rights to reputation, possessions, fame, and ambitions, and to transfer the ownership of everything into the hands of the Lord Jesus Christ.

CONFESSION - I am committed to the One who loved me and gave Himself for me, Jesus Christ my LORD and King. It is to Him I surrender all that I am, all that I have and all that I ever hope to be - He is my reason for living.
