Last week we said that 2) Jesus Christ, our Lord and Saviour, needed Him (Holy Spirit):
2.1) For service - "The Spirit of the Lord shall rest upon Him (Jesus), the Spirit of wisdom and understanding, the spirit of counsel and might, the spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the Lord."
2.2) For the revelation of the purpose of the empowerment. Prophet Isaiah articulates it thus: "The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, because the LORD has anointed Me to (i) Preach good tidings to the poor; (ii) He has sent Me to heal the broken hearted, (iii) To proclaim liberty to the captives, (iv) And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; (v) To proclaim the acceptable year of the LORD...... (vi) To comfort all who mourn, (vii) To console those who mourn in Zion, (viii) To give them beauty for ashes, (ix) The oil of joy for mourning, (x) The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; (xi) That they might be trees of righteousness, (xii) The planting of the LORD that He might be glorified." Jesus affirmed that the above verses depict the essence of His ministry.
CONFESSION - The Spirit of the Lord that was upon Jesus to work the works of God rests and remains also upon me to work the works of Christ.
