Knowing God Series.. - HIS NAMES, JEHOVAH-ROHI (Pt 10)

This week we shall examine briefly what the Lord's name, Jehovah-Rohi means to us practically. As a reminder, the name means the LORD our Shepherd. By definition, a shepherd is someone who herds, tends, and guards sheep. He protects, guides, and watches over sheep.

King David, the Psalmist, beautifully expresses what the relationship between God and His people, the sheep, looks like. Let us take time to meditate on these nuggets:

# I shall NOT want any good thing to remain fit and useful for His purposes here on earth because the LORD is my Shepherd [to feed, to guide and to shield me].
# He makes me to lie down in green pastures [what a picture of God's tender-loving care]:
# He leads me besides the still and quiet waters;
# He restores my soul (mind, will and emotions);
# He leads me in the path of righteousness  for His name’s sake.
# I shall fear no evil even when I walk through the shadow of death for the LORD is with me;
# His rod and His staff comfort me.
# He prepares a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
# He anoints me head with oil and my cup runs over.
# Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life;
# I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever. [This is the only legitimate response to the Father's shepherding care - to remain in His presence forever!]

CONFESSION - Jehovah-Rohi is my Shepherd, nurturing  me and  watching over me through my Lord - the great Shepherd of my soul. Consequently, I shall not lack any good thing to remain fit and useful for my Father's service.
